What are the pros and cons of having one company own the media we consume?
PROS
The pros of having one company control the media in my opinion are lacking compared to the potential negatives. However as they stand they are, All news that we consume would be held to the same standards, therefore you could pick up any newspaper or turn on any news channel and be assured that you would view some proof checked, standardised news. Furthermore increased funding leads to the benefit of better researched stories and more widespread news, including adaptations of the news to benefit multiple audiences.
CONS
The negative effects of one company owning a nations news in my opinion are great and very important things to consider, for example if one company controls all of the news then the opinion of the nation will be controlled by this news company therefore all opinion will match that. of the CEO. or other high up official in the company. this causes a lack of free belief in the country. another problem is the silencing or subduing of independent companies, this bread down the basics of Adam Smiths Free Market principles. We also see monopolisation of the news and we see certain people becoming very rich whilst perhaps not paying their journalists a decent wage.
Another major problem is the destruction of opposing companies and business, as if the head of the news takes a dislike to someone or something he can structure all of the news against said person or company ultimately ruining it or them.

P2: TITLE - EXPLAIN THE MEDIA PLATFORMS USED FOR NEWS DISTRIBUTION
<Methods of delivering the news>
There are three main ways to distribute the news: print media (newspapers and magazines), broadcast news (TV and radio) and the internet (online newspapers, news blogs and social media). Before modern technology, print media was the only way of telling people what was going on, and therefore newspapers were at their most popular in the 19th century. As the television and radio became a feature of the average British home, the BBC broadcasted its first radio programme in 1922 and its first TV news programme in 1954. Now, in the digital age, the news via apps, the internet and social media is becoming far more popular than the traditional forms of news media.
Traditional media: NEWSPAPERS.
The oldest form of public news distribution, here are some of the most common newspapers, with selected headlines covering the same story.
