P8: - Produce and edit footage in line with the production plan applying any final effects
Here is a sequence of videos that show the basic editing process that I undertook as part of this Unit.
M2: - Export the final footage into the planned or final format
What is a codec?
A codec (standing for Compression Decompression) is a programme that compresses your media so you can quickly store and send it and then decompresses it when it comes to play it so that it is visible to see.
They come under many different types. What are these types.
H.264 - H.265 (Allows double the compression rate of h.264 but with the same video quality.) - MPEG4 (A commonly used codec) - Apple Pro Res - Quick Time -

After careful research I found out that H.264 boasts an impressive 12 MBps rather than apple pro res 422's 85 MBps. That being said Pro Res supports a 10 mbps bit rate in comparison to H.264's 7.9 mbps. This is important, if you are shooting something that has a lot of effects then the higher bit rate will cause a much smoother look and will enhance the effects, however if you are not using so much then the low data rate of H.264 comes into its fore.
Here is my final video submission.
D2 - Justify the creation process against the original production concept plans.
This is Beau Beaumont and Fryderyk Lukasik commenting on my music video. Overall their comments were fair and very helpful for me to construct more effective media in the future. Their feedback starts at 0.43.
As I review my music video I am impressed with how it turned out, however I unsure as to whether it is truly as professional as possible, I find that whilst it is made quite well and designed to fit the music that I made, it is in places unrealistic and the effects are not always suitable for the part of the vide. Furthermore there are instances where the effects do not sync well with the video alongside them. I find this to be a distraction and therefore not very immersive which the music and video are designed to be. I also find that in place the video looks very similar to earlier points, and that perhaps it could be designed better so that I had more variation in shot type and focus.
I think that the video however did meets the brief and for a student production it came across quite professionally, also I think that it often fitted the music very well to create the feeling of alien isolation and desperation, I also feel that in places the effects are very well created to add a great feel to the piece.
In the future I think I would bear in mind that if I shoot only in one location it will look very similar to elsewhere in the piece and therefore not as effective. I also note that the film could be better recorded on my own personal camera, which I could not use because I had forgotten to charge the battery, in future i will bear this in mind and charge my camera for best recording quality.
