PROPOSAL FOR LATERAL MUSIC
Name of programme:
‘Lateral Music’ - (lateral thinking plus music).
Length of show:
30 minutes.
Genre or type of programme:
Documentary - Discussion style.
Brief description / synopsis:
A documentary that discusses the comparisons between punk and hip-hop. Hence the lateral thinking. Two distinct genres that have multiple similarities.
Good kid m.A.A.d city - discusses living in Compton.
SLF(Stiff Little Fingers) Inflammable Material talks about the stresses and difficulties of Belfast.
These two albums are good to compare as they both talk about: poverty, police brutality, unemployment and crime.
Production method:
Pre-recorded with music snippets. Vox Pops and interviews.
Target audience: Appeals to both older punk listeners who will remember the way that punk changed the world, and younger adults who actively listen to hip hop and understand the way that it discusses realities.
Typically lower class c2de is where the music tends to appeal so hopefully the radio show will as well. I would also upload a

Here is a studio clock that I created using an online service, I will have this on display in the studio when I am recording so that I know how long to talk and what to talk about.

The reason why I need to use a studio clock is because it stops me from going over the requisite time. As part of the brief set by the radio company we are unable to go over 30 minutes, therefore by breaking my time down like this I can easily talk and play music for the perfect amounts of time.
