P6: Identify channels and platforms used for the new product
There are several potential distribution platforms that I could use for this app. The app is intended to be a mobile application, and as such would be best on stores that are popular on mobile devices. Of these there are two places that I need to consider these are the App Store and Google Play. I need to consider both of these so that I can gain the greatest number of users.

These two platforms represent the two largest markets in the mobile market; Apple Iphones and phones running android e.g. Samsung, Huawei, etc. and are available and even pre-installed on these devices for users to shop on. Having your app on these stores, especially on the App store as it is renowned for it's quality control, will immediately have it reach a wide audience and be trusted as a safe and non-malicious app. Apple's App store charges a fee of $99/year to host an app on their app store, and Google has a $25 one time fee to host on their store. This is much lower but apple's store is more trusted and exclusive, hence/due to the higher cost.
In terms of distribution of apps, the app store and google play are by far the best apps to market on.

This method isn't as effective at reaching new audiences, but gives those who don't use the previously mentioned platforms to download the app. It also allows an opportunity to present the app in the way that I want to outside of the format of the app stores. This can be done for free through a website creation tool such as wix.com or weebly.com. The only issue with this format aside from the fact that it isn't very effective at reaching new audiences is that, often devices will only let you download from a certified developer and when starting out an app it can be very difficult to reach that level.

M3 - Justified how new audiences can be targeted by the new product
When making a product, distribution is one of the main things that really takes a lot of clever thought but really pays off in the end if done well. Therefore it is very important that I consider the most effective and therefore the most value for money way to promote and share my product. I have chosen a few ways that I think are the best ways to do this and I will now look at them in depth.
.SOCIAL MEDIA.The first key way to advertise to my proposed target audience is through simple Social Media advertising. This simply means adverts that come up looking like a post on social media. If the post / advert is effective people will not be able to tell the difference between it and other posts and therefore they will regard with the same level of interest as they do to other posts from celebrities and their friends.
"According to Common Sense Media, teens spend an average of nine hours a day online" (https://qz.com/1367506/pew-research-teens-worried-they-spend-too-much-time-on-phones/) This figure shows how teenagers (and young adults to fill the 15 - 25 age bracket) spend nearly half of their waking time online which is predominantly using social media. Therefore by marketing this on social media the app can be in constant contact with the primary target audience. This can also be tied in to the fact that by using a viral marketing method the social media advertising campaign can very quickly be seen by far more people that otherwise would be with just a social media post. |
.COLLABORATION.On Pages like the one on the left which is a drop list for Supreme. I would speak to brands about them advertising my product.
My product gives them more traffic as more people will have access to the drops and therefore there will be more competition around the time that a release is announced. This is important because the more traffic there is the more products can be released and therefore more sales can be made. Therefore if they were to put on their site a link to where customers can download my app and track Supremes products there is a state of mutual beneficiary. Furthermore if people see large brands themselves advertising a product they will have more faith in the app as it works just like Star Power, where celebrities and influencers talk about a brand and people rush to purchase the brand so they can be one with the celebrities. |
Naturally these are not the only Advertising methods that I would employ however they are my key starting points as until I can start to make profit off of this app I need to be frugal with the ways that I advertise it. Other adverts could include, BillBoards or pre YouTube video adverts. Star Power is also an exceptional way to promote the brand.
